Dushanbe, Washington continue cooperation in combating COVID-19
On Wednesday February 3, Deputy Foreign Minister Muzaffar Huseinzoda received the Ambassador of the United States of America to Tajikistan, Mr. John Mark Pommersheim.
In the course of the talks, the parties exchanged views on the expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States in the fields of politics and economy as well as cooperation within the framework of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) programs and other relevant mechanisms, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
The need to continue joint efforts to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was noted during the meeting.
Recall, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) delivered $310,964 worth of laboratory equipment, reagents, and supplies to Tajikistan’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP) on January 27.
The donated equipment and supplies, including items necessary for conducting PCR tests, reagents for diagnosing COVID-19, laboratory plastic, and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be used by laboratory professionals to enhance their efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19. These items will also help diagnose and fight other infectious diseases.
