Tajik and Ukrainian foreign ministries hold first ever political consultations
Bilateral political consultations between Tajikistan and Ukraine took place in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv on February 4. It was the first time ever the consultations were held between the two countries.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, the political consultations were held at the level of heads of appropriate departments of the foreign ministries of the two countries.
Tajik delegation was reportedly led by Mr. Ahmad Saidmurodov, Director of the CIS Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, and Ukrainian delegation was led by Mrs. Zhanna Leshchynska, Head of the Asia and Oceania Division, Ukrainian MFA.
The parties discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Ukraine in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
They also exchanged views on cooperation between the two countries in the framework of international organizations, the Tajik MFA information department said.
The delegations reportedly expressed readiness to give a new impulse to expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Ukraine.

Bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Ukraine are based on a Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and Ukraine, signed on July 6, 2001.
According to the Ukrainian Embassy in Dushanbe, diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and Ukraine were established on April 24, 1992.
The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan was opened in the capital of Ukraine in December 2010, and the Embassy of Ukraine has operated in Dushanbe since October 2012.
More than seventy signed bilateral interstate documents covering a wide range of cooperation reportedly contribute to the development and strengthening of Ukrainian-Tajik relations and make it possible to fully develop mutually beneficial relations.
The relations between the two countries are traditionally friendly and constructive and characterized by mutual understanding in the discussion and solution of urgent issues of bilateral cooperation. Ukraine and the Republic of Tajikistan also share similar positions on key issues of international policy and security, as well as mutual support in international organizations.
