42-meter control tower officially introduced into operation at Dushanbe airport yesterday
An official opening ceremony of a 42-meter control tower at Dushanbe International Airport (DIA) took place on June 27, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
The ceremony was attended by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, France’s Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ms. Yasmin Guedar, and some other officials.
Recall, a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and France on construction of the control tower at the Dushanbe airport was signed in Dushanbe on July 13, 2015 and the cornerstone laying ceremony for a new control tower took place on March 14, 2018. Speaking at the cornerstone laying ceremony, France’s Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ms. Yasmin Guedar, in particular, noted that the new control tower is a gift of the French people to Tajikistan.
French specialists have developed the project taking into consideration opinions of the Tajik side. France’s government sponsored this project and French company, Enterprise Marc Meunier, has built the facility.
The control tower at the Dushanbe airport was reportedly built in compliance with international air navigation standards.
All the equipment for control tower at the Dushanbe airport has been manufactured by Europe’s largest production companies.
Flying control officers use the state-of-the-art air navigation technologies for regulating the takeoff and landing of planes and helicopters. The tower will increase the level of safety of flights, sys the president’s official website.
After the official tower-opening ceremony, Emomali Rahmon reportedly got acquainted with work of the State Unitary Enterprise (SUE) Tajikaeronavigatsiya (Tajik air navigation).
