Dushanbe prosecutor’s office launches investigation into the ‘case of Madina’, two detained
The Dushanbe prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into “the case of Madina” and two persons have been detained on suspicion of involvement in that severe crime.
Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Speaker Rustam Emomali, who is also Mayor of Dushanbe on November 1 held a meeting with heads of Dushanbe’s law enforcement agencies.
Speaking at the meeting, the Dushanbe chief prosecutor said that they had launched an investigation into the case of Madina M. and two suspects had been detained.
“The Dushanbe chief prosecutor noted that by mayor’s order criminal proceedings had been instituted against Aziza Davlatova and Luftullo Davlatov based on the relevant signs of the commission of the crime in accordance with Tajikistan’s Criminal Code. The suspects have been arrested,” a representative of the Dushanbe mayor’s office said.
Speaking at the meeting, the mayor reportedly ordered to take measures to ensure a through and unbiased investigation into the case.
Recall, Rustam Emomali had taken the sensational “case of Madina” under his personal control following appeals of residents of Dushanbe and the appeal of Madina’s mother, Z. Alimova, to him and the Prosecutor’s General Office about inflicting severe bodily harms on her daughter caused by tortures committed by Aziza Davlatova and taking Madina M. to a hospital in a coma.
Prosecutors in Dushanbe’s Sino district have launched an investigation into the case, but in accordance with the country’s law on amnesty of September 7, 2021, criminal proceedings have been refused. By Majlisi Milli speaker’s order investigation into case has been resumed.
Recall, Madina M. was reported missing on August 25 and 14 hours later, she was taken to a hospital in a coma with serious injuries.
Aziza Davlatova, the wife of the man Madina was reportedly dating, is under criminal prosecution as the main suspect.
