Damage Сaused by Earthquake in Eastern Tajikistan
An earthquake shook eastern part of Tajikistan Tajikistan today morning.
The earthquake was recorded at 07:14 local time.
The depth of the earthquake was 10 km. The tremor in the epicenter measured 5.9 magnitudes
According to the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, the earthquake epicenter was 165 km north-east of Dushanbe, and 21 km east of the Rasht district. The strength of the earthquake was 5-6 points at the epicenter and 2-3 points in Dushanbe. The tremor in the epicenter measured 5-6 magnitudes and in Dushanbe it registered as 2-3 magnitudes.
Unfortunately, the earthquake resulted in loss of life and property. Five residents of the Buston village (the former Kuli Bolo village) of the Langari Shokh rural community of the Tojikobod district remained under the earth and died. Also, houses and power lines were partially damaged in the villages of Buston, Shirinchashma and Kuli kalon of Tojikobod district. Seven residential buildings were damaged in the villages of Hazorchashma and Yarhob of the Rasht district, and 12 residential buildings in the villages of Sharkho and Sari Shukhon of the Askalon rural community of this district.
Per President Emomali Rahmon’s instruction, a competent commission headed by the Prime Minister was created. The members of the commission were sent to the scene to study the situation, determine the amount of damage and eliminate the consequences of the earthquake.
The affected families were provided with temporary housing, primary health care and hot meals.
