Issues of preparations for jubilee SCO summit discussed in Dushanbe
On Wednesday April 21, Tajik First Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Khusrav Noziri, met here with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Tajikistan, Mr. Liu Bin.
During the meeting, the two discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and China, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
Noziri and Liu reportedly also exchanged views on the process of preparations for the jubilee summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) that is expected to take place in the Tajik capital in September this year.
A jubilee summit of the SCO is expected to take place in Dushanbe from September 16-17, 2021. This year, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will mark the 20th anniversary of its founding.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was founded at a Summit in Shanghai in 2001 by the presidents of Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization currently has eight full members -- China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, India, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia are four observer states, and SCO’s dialogue partners include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Turkey. ACEAN, CIS, Turkmenistan and the United Nations are guest attendances.
The SCO now represents around 42% of the world’s population, 22% of its land area and around 20% of GDP.
