Employees of Tajikistan’s financial sector called to volunteer their one month salary to support medical workers
Bank employees in Tajikistan on average receive nearly 3.7 times more than doctors, 5.5 times more than nurses and 7.2 times more than medical orderlies.
Chairman for the Board of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank), Sirojiddin Ikromi, has called on employees of the country’s banking sector to volunteer their one month salaries to support medical workers.
Recall, President Emomali Rahmon pledged on May 1 to double salaries for health workers over a three-month period. That means nurses earning around 607 somoni per month will take home 1, 2014 somoni if they are involved in the front-line battle against COVID-19. Doctors, meanwhile, typically make about 1,792 somoni per month and medical orderlies earning per month 460 somoni will take home 920 somoni. per month.
Besides, President’s Reserve Fund has reportedly provided 12.4 million somoni to support health workers, who are involved in the first front-line battle against COVID-19.
