More than 40 representatives of judicial system convicted in Tajikistan over the past decade
On Thursday November 21, President Emomali Rahmon met with representatives of the country’s judicial system, according to the Tajik president’s official website.  
The main objective of the meeting was in reviewing the results of work of the judicial system and role of the judicial power in society.  
Speaking at the meeting, Rahmon underlined the significance of independence of the judicial power and improvement of legislation for the purpose of raising the role of courts in providing supremacy of law and protecting rights and freedoms of citizens.
The head of state noted that over the past decade, more than 40 judges and employees of courts had been convicted of corruption and other crimes. 
“Insufficient activity of judges causes dissatisfaction of citizens who are making applications and complaints to the President’s Executive Office and other higher bodies,” the president said.  
Prosecutor-General Yusuf Rahmon, Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda, State Committee for National Security (SCNS) Chief Saymumin Yatimov, Supreme Court Head Shermuhammad Shohiyon a High Economic Court Chairwoman Mavlouda Qalandarzoda made reports at the meeting.
