Trump authorizes release of Ukraine leader call transcript
The move comes as Democrats are reportedly preparing to formally launch impeachment proceedings

US President Donald Trump said Tuesday he will release tomorrow the complete transcript of his phone conversation with Ukraine's leader that has sparked calls for Trump's impeachment.

"I am currently at the United Nations representing our Country, but have authorized the release tomorrow of the complete, fully declassified and unredacted transcript of my phone conversation with President Zelensky of Ukraine," Trump wrote on Twitter while attending the UN General Assembly in New York.

"You will see it was a very friendly and totally appropriate call. No pressure and, unlike Joe Biden and his son, NO quid pro quo! This is nothing more than a continuation of the Greatest and most Destructive Witch Hunt of all time!"

The mounting scandal involves reported attempts by Trump to pressure the new Ukrainian president to open a corruption investigation into Biden's son Hunter.

The confrontation began over a secret whistleblower complaint surrounding a July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Shortly after Trump's announcement, House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff said the whistleblower who launched the scandal wanted to speak to Congress.
