IDF confirms drone 'fell' over Lebanon as Hezbollah claims it shot down device

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Monday morning that a drone fell over Lebanese territory while conducting a "routine" surveillance operation.

The Israeli military added that there was "no concern over information [being obtained]" from the aircraft following the incident.

Earlier Monday, Lebanon-based terror group Hezbollah claimed in a statement that an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle was intercepted after it had crossed into Lebanese territory.

Fighters from the Lebanese Shiite movement "confronted with necessary weapons an Israeli drone" as it entered southern Lebanon, a statement said.

The drone is now in the hands of Hezbollah, it added.

According to the announcement, the drone was downed over Ramia in southern Lebanon.

The claim comes just hours after a report of explosions on the Syria-Iraq border allegedly targetted several Hezbollah bases.
